CUI is an organisation that exists to facilitate and guide the running of Christian Unions on the island of Ireland, they are part of the worldwide student movement of IFES. There are around 600,000 students in over 160 different countries involved in the organisation throughout the world including us in Trinity.
In Trinity CU we have the privilege of working alongside two fantastic Staff Workers as well as our brand new relay worker.
CUI aim to encourage and train students in college to live out their faith on campus and share it with their friends and classmates. They don’t run the CU but are here to offer prayer, support and lots of encouragement.
Our CUI staff workers are invaluable to the CU. Alongside their prayerful support they keep in touch with the committee throughout the year offering their wisdom and guidance. They meet weekly with the small group leaders for ‘Smallies’ and provide really helpful training for them throughout the year. Last year they also ran a successful series of evangelism training workshops in the run up to Events Week and were integral to the week itself in both preparation and in helping to run the events themselves. They are an incredible encouragement to everyone in the CU so be sure to say hello to each of them, they’re here to help and equip us in spreading the gospel on campus!
World Student Day
World student day takes place every year in Michaelmas term. This year World Student Day is on 21st October. On the nearest Thursday night, alongside students worldwide we’ll take time to learn about and pray for Christian students elsewhere in the world. We often have students along from other Irish universities to tell us about the challenges and blessings they face in their colleges. There is time for discussion, prayer and writing letters of encouragement to Christian Unions elsewhere in the world.
CUAC – Christian Union Annual Conference
The CU Annual Conference is a weekend meeting for Christian Unions from all corners of the island. It’s packed full of really great Biblical teaching as well as really relevant and interesting seminars. It’s always such an encouraging weekend as you spend time in fellowship and are encouraged by Christian students from all different backgrounds and studies. You can go for an evening, a day or the full weekend – ask any of the CUI workers or older students for more information.
Uncover John is a resource designed by CUI as a Bible study through some of the key moments of Jesus life in the gospel of John. Last year we studied it together in our small groups but it is also the perfect introductory Bible study to do with a friend over coffee. It is hoped that many of us would prayerfully consider reading through the study with a friend in the coming year. Contact us if you would like a copy of the study to use in this way.
